    I will move to Sant Llorenç d’Hortons in October to be an au pair for a Spanish family. I need a student visa which means I need to enroll in an accredited language school where I would need to study for at least 20 hours a week. Can you please advise me on my options.

      Hello Amina,

      Thank you very much for your message and your interest in our school!

      Since you will need a Schengen student visa during your stay in Spain, we will provide you some info on obtaining the certificate of registration from our school.

      Regarding the requirement of minimum hours per week to obtain the student visa, I guess you have already asked the Spanish embassy in your country. And it is 20 hours per week. Great! Without consulting the Spanish embassy clearly and apply the certificate from the school, any modification afterwards will be charged 20 euros extra.

      How long would you like to study? You would like to study 20 hours per week, starting from October 2015. Courses schedule depend on your actual level of Spanish and type of the course.

      Our courses are based on 3-month period and covers one entire level. The trimesters of 2015-2016 are as follows:
       01/10/15 – 23/12/15
       07/01/16 – 01/04/16
       04/04/16 – 28/06/16
       04/07/16 – 27/09/16

      You may sign-up for a course from the initial date of a trimester. However, if you have learned Spanish before, you have to take our placement test and send it to us ( and then you may start the course any day you wish. After completing the online test you will also have to come here to the school and take the grammar part of test to confirm finally your level. If you would like to start from the beginner’s level then it is not necessary to take the level test, you only need to inform us about it.

      To get the certificate of registration, you have to pay the whole course in advance (in your case, 20 hours per week for X months. There is 30€ of enrollment fee too.). The tuition does not include the textbooks. For more info regarding our price please consult the following website:

      We would like to remind you that all banks procedure fees have to be covered by the student. If you are not in Spain at this moment, you can pay online or by banks transfer.

      If you decide to pay by bank transfer, please inform us the name of the bank and the name of the student who benefits the course.

      To obtain the certificate of registration, please send us by e-mail:
      a) The bank receipt (Entire course and enrollment fees);
      b) Our school policy (Please send us a email to then we will send you);
      c) Photocopy of your passport (The page with your photo and ID number on it);
      d) Placement test (If you haven’t learned Spanish before, then it’s not necessary);
      e) Clear information (Your initial date of course, length and how many hours per week);
      f) Mailing address for your certificate delivery (English and the language of the region to facilitate the delivery).

      Once we receive all the documents mentioned above, we will start to process your certificate.

      The certificate should arrive within 15 days by ordinary mail.
      If you are planning to come to Spain, please try to apply the certificate of registration AT LEAST 2 MONTHS before your departure, the school is not responsible for delays in the granting of visas (by the correspondent consulate or embassy) or for delays or changes in the flights. Such cases are neither our competency nor our responsibility. So I recommend you to ask the embassy how long it will take after submitting the application of student visa before you actually receive the visa. The time to take to get the result depends on the country.

      In case you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us again to next email! This goes directly to the visa related department!

      Many greetings from Barcelona!
      Thank you.

      Best regards,
